Inspirational Bible Passages for Tombstone Inscriptions

If you are looking for an inspirational bible passage as the perfect inscription on a tombstone, here are several that might fit the bill.

Conquering Death

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” I Corinthians 15:54

Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. Psalm 90:10

They can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. Luke 20:36

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” I Corinthians 15:55*

*This verse in I Corinthians is a reference to the Old Testament: I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? Hosea 13:14.

Victory in Jesus

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4
